DVD Fundraiser Provides Blankets in Ethiopia

Girl with blanketA family and a young man who attend Genesis put their heads together, put their shoulders to the wheel, and came up with a great idea for a fundraiser to help their brothers and sisters in Ethiopia.

The Augenstein family teamed up with Sam Jutkins to sell the "Blacks in the Scriptures" DVDs—then used the money from the sale toward a wonderful fundraising effort for people in the town of Hosanna, Ethiopia.

Sam spread the word in his neighborhood, and asked people to donate fleece for blankets. Sam then worked to make all of the blankets. The money from the sale of the DVDs was used to ship boxes of blankets to Ethiopia.

"We sent the blankets to my dear friend, Elsae, who is a social worker and minister in the community of Hosanna," explains Susie Augenstein. "He then gave them to those in need. In some of these areas it can get really cold at night, and many people there are too poor to even have a pair of pajamas. Many sleep with no clothes at all."

"I think it's especially gratifying that one of our youth was involved," Susie said, referring to Sam and his tremendous work. "Our youth need to see what kind of difference their efforts can make."
