Bronson Harwell Graduates from Brighton High School

Bronson Eugene Harwell, son of President Donald L. and Jerri A. Harwell, has graduated from Brighton High School in the Jordan School District in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

While at Brighton, Bronson was a member of the junior varsity wrestling team and sang with the a cappella choir. In addition, he was a peer tutor and was named "Bengal of the Month." Bronson received several semester academic commendations and had perfect attendance his senior year. In addition to his work at Brighton, Bronson completed a one-year nursery and landscaping course at the Jordan Applied Technology Center (JATC) in Sandy, and was named a "Student of the Month" for that class because of his perfect attendance and his hard work.

Bronson also received a four-year seminary certificate, having completed each year's course of study at Butler Middle School and Brighton High School seminaries.

Each school year, the Jordan School District builds a house and sells it. Students in construction trades, nursery and landscaping, and interior design at the JATC do the majority of the work on the house after the foundation is poured. As a participant in the nursery and landscaping program, Bronson helped to landscape the district's project house located at 1810 West 10508 South in South Jordan. The landscaping students designed the sprinkler system, dug sprinkler pipe trenches with shovels, laid the pipes, and connected the system. They also designed the yard with drought-tolerant plants, flowers, and trees, which they grew at the district's greenhouse.

Following graduation, Bronson would like to work in landscaping.

Bronson, age 18, is a priest in the Union Fort 4th Ward and is active in The Genesis Group's youth program.
