Justin FelixNakona Justin Felix of West Sacramento, California, reported to the MTC on April 11, where he will study Spanish as he prepares to serve in the New York New York North Mission.

Elder Felix is a lifelong member of the Church who has held many callings. His most recent was elders quorum secretary for the Sacramento 4th YSA Branch. His decision to serve a mission comes from a belief that he can be an instrument of positive change as he shares the gospel.

Although he is the first in his family to serve a mission, his sister is also waiting for her call.

"This past Sunday at the MTC fireside, President Jarman was going in depth about one of his favorite scriptures (2 Nephi 4:15), and while he was explaining it in detail I started feeling and thinking about a few things.

"Before I go on, here's what the scripture says: 'And upon these I write the things of my soul, and many of the scriptures which are engraven upon the plates of brass. For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children.'

"When President Jarman explained the meaning of the verse, I started feeling a sense of happiness and peace. I started thinking about my kids back at Westmore Oaks and in the city and how much I love them.

"Next, I thought about all my friends back home and how much they supported and cared for me. "Finally, I saw the faces of all of you, and although you were sad that I was leaving, you were all very proud and happy for me. I've felt forced to bust out a bunch of generic testimonials as practice for investigators, but I can truly bear my testimony to you that I felt the Spirit that night and I love you all very much."
