Utah is organizing a chapter of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) in preparation for the 28th National AAHGS Conference, "The Legacy of our Roots: A Heritage for the Future," which will be held in Salt Lake City from October 26-29, 2006. If you are interested in joining the Utah chapter, please contact Karen Jepson at JepsonKA@ldschurch.org.AAHGS is also looking for exhibitors and vendors who are interested in networking with historians and genealogists from across the country. The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc., is the premier African-American organization of its kind in the country. AAHGS's primary mission is to teach persons of all races how to do genealogical and historical research, but with a special emphasis on that of African-Americans. AAHGS is a non-profit membership organization committed to the preservation of history, genealogy, and culture of diverse groups from local, national, and international communities. AAHGS stresses the importance of history and genealogy by encouraging active participation in recording research and documenting personal family histories.
