Margaret Young will be spending a month in Guatemala this summer and has received a request for clothing in good condition to be distributed to children and adults in need there.
It used to be that the girls and women never wore American-style clothing, but that is changing, and American-style clothes are becoming very popular. Items that would be particularly helpful include the following:
Babies (Newborn on up)
- Baby clothes (size newborn on up)
- Baby blankets
- Pajamas
- Diapers
- Diaper pins
- Sweaters
- Socks and shoes
Children and Teens
- White shirts for church
- Pants for church (one of Margaret's Guatemalan boys needs a pair of boys' size 18 church pants)
- Dresses
- Pants for play
- Shirts for play
- Sweaters
- Zip-up sweaters
- Lightweight jackets for the rain
- Socks and underwear
- Pajamas
Men
Most of the men wear size small or medium; a few wear size large.
Women
Many of the women are heavier and wear larger sizes, such as size 14.
- Dresses (warm)
- Sweaters
- Skirts
- T-shirts
- Underwear
Miscellaneous
- Personal items, such as toothbrushes, combs, and brushes
- Towels
- Sheets and pillowcases
- Fabric
- Children's books in Spanish
- Crayons, pens, pencils, and notebooks
- Toys are always a blessing—they love marbles!
- Floppy disks (Margaret uses one for each family)
If you have any of these items that are in good condition that you would be willing to donate, please contact Margaret at Margaret_Young@byu.edu.
