The Value of The Genesis Newsletter by John McKay

I want to thank you for your publication each month. I always find something of value to share with my family in the newsletter. Yesterday, I read the [November] Presidency Message "Happiness Must be Grown in One's Own Garden" to my family, (my wife and four young girls) and could tell that they were very interested. We read our chapter in the Book of Mormon together, then ended with Brother Wain Myers' testimony about finding the Church. The Spirit was strong as we concluded our family hour. Thank you for your contribution in our home. I plan on sharing those with my Sunday school class as well. I'm guessing that there are many others you touch who you don't hear from, so I thought I'd drop you a note of thanks.
By the way, after reading the Presidency Message to our girls, I shared with them a simple story you may have heard before to wrap up the theme. I thought I might share it with you:
A wise old man is sitting on his porch at the edge of town, when he is approached by a stranger. The stranger says that he is thinking about moving to the town, but wants to know what the people are like. "Well," the old man asked, "what were they like in the town where you just lived?"
"They were mean and unfriendly," responded the stranger. "That's why I'm moving."
"I think you'll find the people in this town mean and unfriendly as well," said the old man. The stranger shook his head and went away.
Not long after that, another stranger approached the old man. "I'm thinking of moving here. What are the people like?"
"Well, what were the people like where you just lived?"
"I found them to be very nice, open, friendly, and charitable. It's going to be hard to move."
"That's okay," said the old man. "I'm sure you'll find the people here are nice, open, friendly, and charitable as well. Welcome to our town."
Thank you again for the great work you do.
