Visits Scheduled to California Temples

TempleDid you know that California has five operating temples, with two more to be completed by the end of this year?

Well, Sister Anne Marie St. Felix does. She's determined to visit them all—and wants to invite others to come along!

Back in January, Sister St. Felix shared a resolution she made to visit every temple in the state of California in 2005. She then sent an invitation to her extensive mailing list for anyone interested in pursuing this worthy goal to join her.

She has successfully organized California Temple Day Trips, with visits arranged every other month of this year. During months when a trip is not planned, invitees are invited to attend the Los Angeles Temple on the second Saturday of the month. To date, the group has visited the San Diego Temple, Redlands Temple, Fresno Temple, and the Los Angeles Temple. The remaining three trips are scheduled as follows:
  • July: Newport Beach Temple (completion slated for early 2005)—one to two hours from Los Angeles
  • September: Oakland Temple—five to six hours from Los Angeles
  • November: Sacramento Temple—seven to eight hours from Los Angeles (if the temple has not been completed and dedicated, the group will visit the Los Angeles Temple)
TempleSister St. Felix says that "all the temple trips will start at the Los Angeles Temple Visitor's Center. We will leave early in the morning after a continental breakfast; once at the temple, you can do an endowment session, baptisms, initiatories,m or whatever you desire. We'll plan for a late lunch, depending on time, and then head for home. It's a great opportunity to get to know people and have an enjoyable time at the temple. We will be carpooling, and we will try to rotate so the same people don't always drive. If you don't drive, kick in some cash for gas, and we will be on our way!"

For Sacramento and Oakland, says Sister St. Felix, the group will leave on Friday and return on Saturday night. "We will rely on members in the area to let us crash at their place, or we will rent a cheap motel—suggestions are welcome! Feel free to invite your friends and pass this along."
